According to different dyes, denim fabrics are mainly dyed with indigo dyes, sulfur dyes, and reactive dyes. Below, the editor will introduce these dyeing processes one by one.
1、 Indigo dye dyeing
Indigo dye dyeing: The most traditional denim fabric is blue, and the original classic blue is dyed with indigo dye, divided into natural indigo dye and synthetic indigo dye. Natural indigo dye is extracted from plants such as indigo grass and is a dye with a history of over 3000 years. Currently, natural indigo dye dyed denim fabrics are also available, but synthetic indigo dye fabrics are still more popular.
The blue color dyed with natural indigo dyes is generally lighter, while synthetic indigo dyes can dye darker colors. In addition to the common indigo blue, they can also dye super indigo or extra deep indigo, which is achieved by increasing the amount of indigo dye used during dyeing.
The traditional denim fabric dyed with indigo has a unique style and a clear white exposed surface after stone grinding or rinsing; However, natural indigo resources are limited and the yield is low, making it unsuitable for large-scale dyeing, while synthetic indigo causes serious environmental pollution.
2、 Sulfide dye dyeing
Sulfide dye dyeing: This is the most commonly used dyeing method for denim fabrics, which can be dyed separately with sulfur dyes, such as sulfur black dyeing black denim fabrics; It can also be co dyed with indigo dye, which means traditional indigo denim fabrics can be re dyed, such as indigo co dyed with sulfur black or indigo co dyed with sulfur grass green; It can also be dyed with different sulfur dyes, such as sulfur black and sulfur blue.
The successful combination of sulfide dyes and indigo has innovated the dyeing effect, especially the ideal dye for dyeing dark colors. However, sulfur dyes have poor storage stability.
3、 Reactive dye dyeing
Reactive dye dyeing: Reactive dye dyeing is mainly used for dyeing colored denim fabrics, such as bright red, peach red, pink, etc. Dyed denim fabrics with reactive dyes have high fastness to washing and soap washing. However, dyeing denim fabrics with reactive dyes has a lower utilization rate of dyes and generates a large amount of colored wastewater.
